註：一品當朝是傳統繪畫之吉祥題材，寓意仕途順利，位極人臣者，多繪仙鶴立於磐石，象徵顯宦地位穩固。配潮水或朝陽，以「潮」諧音「朝」，喻朝政、朝廷。本幅任預自謂「背擬」金農本，原畫未見，畫家捨仙鶴，改以高士背坐石上，對潮品笛，以「品」契合畫題，既喻吉祥，復添文人逸韻。高士朱衣，相襯磐石青綠，色調更形醒目，臨江波濤湧盪，天水相連，間用留白，得其潮浪翻湧、水氣蒸騰之致。
